The first work traces the history of the Mississippi River and its tributaries. Shows the consequences of sharecropping, soil exhaustion, unchecked erosion, and flooding. Concludes with scenes of regional planning, Tennessee Valley development, and correlated Federal efforts. The second work traces the social and economic history of the Great Plains from the settlement of the prairies through the World War I boom to the years of depression and drought. |
